Not at all. Extrait is actually smoother and more intimate than an Eau de Parfum.

Because the formula contains far less alcohol, it doesn’t create the sharp “burst” you may associate with mainstream scents. Instead, extrait warms gently on the skin, releasing its notes slowly over many hours. The result is a softer, more refined aura—not an overpowering cloud.

Extrait is generally gentler than EDP or EDT because it contains significantly less alcohol.

Most irritation in fragrance comes from high alcohol concentrations, not perfume oils. Aemlie uses carefully selected naturals and IFRA-compliant aromatics, making the formulas suitable for sensitive skin.

As with any product, we recommend patch testing if you are extremely reactive, but most clients find extrait more comfortable and less drying.

Extrait becomes overpowering only if oversprayed.

Because it is rich and long-lasting, you need only 1–3 sprays depending on the fragrance and your personal preference. Extrait is designed to sit closer to the skin, creating a sophisticated aura rather than a loud cloud.

Its purpose is elegance, not intensity.

Extrait uses significantly higher levels of pure perfumer’s oils, naturals, and premium molecules.

These materials cost considerably more than the blends used in standard Eau de Parfum.

Only formulas with heavy naturals—like thick resins or dark absolutes—can stain certain fabrics.

Most Aemlie extraits use refined, clean bases that are fabric-safe when applied lightly at a distance.

If spraying delicate materials like silk, we recommend applying to the skin instead to preserve the fabric.

Extrait thrives on warmth. Let the perfume settle—don’t rub it in—so it can bloom properly.

Most Aemlie extraits last 10–48 hours on skin and even longer on clothing or hair.

Because they are built with strong base notes—woods, amber, musks, resins—the drydown remains noticeable long after the top notes fade. Customers often report still smelling their extrait the next morning, especially with deeper compositions.

Extrait has a different kind of projection.

EDP tends to “throw” farther in the first hour because of the alcohol burst.

Extrait, however, offers a closer, more luxurious aura that lasts far longer. Many describe it as a “glow” or “halo” around the body—soft, seductive, and far more elegant.

Certain formulas (woods, spices, ambers) can still project impressively without ever becoming harsh.
